Sometimes you wonder. You wonder at the point of it all. You love her. You know you do. But you're afraid. It's a fear so visceral sometimes you don't know what to do. Because here's the thing. She is unfalteringly herself in all aspects, as much as she can manage... and you love her for that. But you're terrified it means she won't ever love you back even half as much as you love her. Because that's the thing, isn't it? She's fiercely independent and bows to no one. Any ground she gives, any time she concedes a point, it's not because someone has forced her to but because she has made that choice. For her, it has always been about choice. It is her decision, her fate, her path in life and no one is going to dictate that for her. It had been a long time ago, when she had first began denying her emotions. Suppressing them, silencing them, destroying them. Everyone had their breaking part and she was tired of being hurt and tearing herself to pieces because she cared too much. So she decided instead to simply stop caring at all.
